Basic Wilderness First Aid is an intensive 1 day -  9 hour course for those who do wilderness recreation. It may also meet the needs of volunteers and professionals who lead groups on short trips in relatively low-risk situations where they are not far from help. This course prepares you to recognize and avoid wilderness hazards and do first aid outdoors with whatever equipment you have or can improvise. This course is recommended for hikers, climbers, fishermen, cyclists, paddlers.

Focus is on prevention, minor treatment, and stabilizing a critical patient.

Our class enrollment is regulated to make sure that we have a high instructor to student ratio.

Review of Epi-Pens and the new Twinject will be covered.

Wilderness Emergency Care

Wilderness First Aid is a 16 hour course for those who do more serious wilderness activities. It is the choice of many wilderness trip leaders and guides. WFA presents wilderness topics in more detail, provides more time for skills practice, and also includes role-playing wilderness accident scenarios. Recommended reading is encouraged prior to class and will be assigned on enrollment.
